Cabinetmaker in Gland: bespoke furniture near you

Back to the blog

Summary: TOMÉ Ébénisterie is a workshop founded in Gland in 2017 that designs, crafts and installs bespoke furniture and fitted interiors for private clients and professionals along La Côte vaudoise. Based in Gingins since 2019, the workshop regularly works on projects in Gland, Nyon, Rolle, Coppet and throughout the region. Every project is drawn in 3D, made in the workshop, then installed by the cabinetmakers themselves.

It was in Gland, in 2017, that the workshop first opened its doors — under the name Albert Ébénisterie. The region, with its villas along La Côte, its lake-side apartments and its growing professional spaces, had a genuine need for a workshop capable of making furniture to the exact dimensions of each space, without resorting to off-the-shelf solutions. Since then, the workshop has moved to Gingins and taken the name TOMÉ, but Gland remains one of the most active installation areas: every month, wardrobes, bookcases, kitchens and wall panelling projects are delivered and fitted there.

What most clients contacting us from Gland are looking for is a local point of contact — someone who can measure a room with its real constraints (sloping ceiling, ventilation duct, out-of-plumb wall) and produce a piece of furniture that will stand the test of time. That is exactly what we do.

From Gland to Gingins: the continuity of a workshop rooted in La Côte

The story of TOMÉ begins in Gland in 2017. At the time, the workshop was called Albert Ébénisterie and worked mainly for local clients: private individuals looking for a bespoke wardrobe, professionals needing a counter or office fitting, and a few property developers seeking a finish that went beyond standard site quality. In 2019, the workshop moved to Gingins — about ten minutes from Gland — to gain a larger and better-equipped production space.

That move did not change the working area. Gland, Nyon, Rolle, Coppet, Prangins, Terre-Sainte: these remain the most frequent project sites. The proximity allows for quick site surveys, smooth back-and-forth during installation, and the kind of responsiveness that is genuinely useful when a detail needs adjusting on the spot.

In 2025, Laurent Hayoz joined forces with Massimo Albert, and the workshop gained an interior architect and draughtswoman. In 2026, the whole team took the name TOMÉ Ébénisterie. Design, production and installation all remain in-house — no subcontracting on any woodwork.

What a cabinetmaker in Gland can do that kitchen fitters and large retailers cannot

The difference between a cabinetmaker and a kitchen fitter or large storage retailer is not only about materials: it is about the design method. A cabinetmaker starts from the exact dimensions of your room, measured on site, and draws a piece of furniture or a fitting that matches those precise measurements — not a grid of 60 cm modules. This changes everything in the situations that are common along La Côte: converted lofts with sloping roofs, 1970s flats with out-of-square partition walls, villas with non-standard alcoves.

Made in the workshop, installed by the same cabinetmakers

In our Gingins workshop, every component is cut, assembled, sanded and finished before being transported to the client. The cabinetmakers who made the piece come and install it: they know every detail of the work and can adapt the installation to on-site surprises without waiting for a subcontractor. This is an organisational choice that has a direct impact on the quality of the installation and on clarity of responsibility.

3D drawings approved before any cutting begins

Before the first board is cut, the client receives detailed drawings and a 3D render of the fitting. This approval stage prevents misunderstandings about dimensions, choice of timber species or the position of openings. It takes two to three weeks and is an integral part of the process — not an optional extra.

What projects do we carry out in and around Gland?

Enquiries from Gland and the surrounding area cover the full range of our work. The most frequent are:

  • Bespoke wardrobes and hanging spaces: under sloping roofs, in alcoves, in corner or linear configurations, with Blum runners, hanging rails, drawers and integrated LED lighting.
  • Bookcases and integrated storage: floor-to-ceiling, with repositionable shelves, melamine or oak veneer carcasses, hinged doors or open fronts.
  • Bespoke kitchens: oiled oak, matt lacquered or walnut veneer door fronts, stone or solid wood worktops, appliance integration, central island with integrated table.
  • Solid wood tables and desks: European oak, American walnut, olive ash, made to the exact dimensions of the dining room or office, with or without extensions.
  • Wall cladding and panelling: tongue-and-groove boarding, louvred screens, veneer panels, door surrounds, window-seat banquettes.
  • Professional fittings: counters, medical practice and office fit-outs, retail spaces.

For property projects — developments and individual villas — the workshop coordinates directly with the client's architect. Several schemes have already been completed in the Gland and Rolle area, with full fitted interiors: kitchens, wardrobes, panelling and living-room furniture within a single project.

Timber species and materials: what we actually use

The choice of materials depends on the project, the budget and the intended use. Here is what leaves our workshop most often:

The hardware we use is primarily Blum — Tandembox drawer runners, Clip Top hinges, Aventos lift systems for flap doors — and Hettich for certain specific applications. Finishes are applied in a controlled spray booth, which guarantees an even film free of dust inclusions.

Timescales and how a project from Gland unfolds

Every project follows the same sequence, whether it is a single piece or a complete fitted interior:

  1. First contact: describe your project in a few lines, by phone or via the enquiry form. We reply within 48 hours.
  2. Site survey: a cabinetmaker comes to Gland to take measurements and understand how the space will be used.
  3. Design and 3D drawings: two to three weeks to produce detailed drawings and rendered images.
  4. Approval and quotation: the client approves the drawings before signing. The workshop schedule is shared at this stage.
  5. Production: four to six weeks in the workshop for a full fitted interior, slightly less for a single piece.
  6. Installation: one to three days on site depending on complexity, carried out by the cabinetmakers who made the work.

For a complete fitted interior — wardrobe, kitchen, bookcase — allow generally between six and twelve weeks from order to installation. For a single piece of furniture, the range is six to ten weeks. These timescales vary according to the workshop's order book.

Our article on budget and timescales for a bespoke furniture project provides additional reference points, in particular on what lengthens or shortens the actual lead time.

What clients in Gland ask us most often

After several years of projects along La Côte, certain needs come up again and again. Villas with converted lofts generate a great many requests for under-roof storage: these are spaces that off-the-shelf solutions simply cannot handle, and which become very functional with a fitting designed to the correct angles. Recently built flats often have narrow entrance halls with no integrated cupboard: a hallway wardrobe in oak or matt lacquer transforms the use of the space without heavy building work.

Kitchens represent a growing share of our projects. Clients who come to a cabinetmaker rather than a kitchen fitter are generally looking for a different result: solid oiled-wood door fronts, an island sized to the way they cook, appliances integrated with no residual gaps. Our guide on bespoke kitchen design and ergonomics explains how we approach this type of project.

Finally, solid wood tables remain among the most requested pieces: oak, walnut, ash, made to the exact dimensions of the dining room. If you are weighing up a bespoke table against one bought off the shelf, our comparison of a bespoke solid wood table versus a shop-bought table sets out the arguments on both sides.

Key points to remember

A few points to keep in mind if you are looking for a cabinetmaker from Gland: the TOMÉ workshop is ten minutes away, works regularly in the area and can travel for a site survey with no obligation. Every project goes through a 3D design stage before production — that is what ensures the piece delivered matches exactly what was approved. Lead times are six to twelve weeks for a full fitting, six to ten weeks for a single piece. Production and installation are handled by the same team, with no subcontracting.

Talk to us about your project

The workshop operates without stock or catalogue: every project begins with a description of what you are trying to achieve. A few lines are enough — the room in question, the intended use, the constraints you have noticed. We reply within 48 hours with an initial steer or a proposal to visit you in Gland.

You can reach us by phone on +41 79 367 26 99, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:00, or via the contact form. The workshop is open for visits by appointment in Gingins, chemin des Cheseaux 11.
