ALBERT ÉBÉNISTERIE BECOMES TOMÉ — 2026

A short name for a precise gesture: the right cut, the one that brings materials into harmony.

It all starts with a word.

TOMÉ comes from the ancient Greek τομή, pronounced “tomé”. The cut, the section. The gesture that splits a thing in two and, by splitting it, defines it.

For a cabinetmaker it is the first gesture and the last. The cut in the wood, placed exactly right. The one you cannot take back. The one that decides everything that follows, down to the harmony between the materials and the eye that rests on them.

The name does not say the trade, it says the manner.

Why a new name.

The workshop has grown. What began at a single bench has become a team of around ten people who draw, build and install. The projects have gained in scale, and so has the urge to go further with them.

We wanted a name that says how we work: the attention paid to detail, the comma set exactly where it is expected.

We also wanted a name in the image of the team: young, ambitious, curious about everything. A team that loves new materials and unexplored territory.

Finally, we wanted a name that brings us together. A name each of us at the workshop carries as our own, so that every project signed TOMÉ is carried at one hundred percent, from the first sketch to the fitting.

“A strong identity holds through the constancy of the gesture.”

The cut that makes proportion.

Take a segment and cut it so that the whole is to the larger part what the larger part is to the smaller. That ratio has a name: the golden ratio.

Between the 1 and the 618, a tiny sign marks the exact point where the number is cut — we made it our symbol.

For you, it is the proportion that lets a piece of furniture hold its place in a room, that rightness you feel without being able to explain, the detail you do not notice, because it is exactly where you expected it.

The TOMÉ blue

It was calculated — by cutting the colour wheel at the golden ratio.

A nod to our attachment to the science of aesthetics.

What does not change.

  • The team, and the people you talk to.
  • The workshop, in Gingins above Nyon.
  • Your quotes, your warranties, your projects under way.
  • The way we work: drawn, built and installed by the same hands.

Our commitments to you.

Drawn in-house

Every project goes through our design office before the first cut. You approve the plans, in 3D, before the wood has its say.

Built in-house

Everything comes out of our workshop in Gingins. Nothing is subcontracted, so we can adjust right up to the end.

Installed at yours

The cabinetmakers who built your project are the ones who come to install it. One contact, from sketch to fitting.

Made to last

Traditional joinery, top-grade hardware, natural finishes. Repairable piece by piece — never disposable.
